Samsung is trying to reap much successful brand name in Galaxy S, which sold over 10 million devices across the world.

Samsung Galaxy S Android Gingerbread Update Date!

Samsung Galaxy SSamsung, for Galaxy S model “Android Gingerbread” explained the history of updating. The latest information coming to us regarding the Gingerbread update for the Samsung Galaxy S is from the Finnish site of Samsung, where it has been officially announced that around the middle of April their local owner’s of the device will receive the android Gingerbread fix.

Now this information from Samsung’s Finnish site comes to us via Engadget and coincides with Three UK’s promise to their users of the Android smartphone that the OS version will be arriving “in a couple of weeks.”

We reported on the update coming to some Samsung Galaxy S handsets in March, in an article dated 28 February 2011 – see a full story here.

So when will the UK owners receive the update, well earlier today we did an article relating to an Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update Schedule, which indicates mid-April for the update. However, the exact date is not stated, so how reliable this information is, we will just have to wait and see – but what ever you do, please don’t hold your breath.

Samsung AndroidThe “Samsung Galaxy S” is updating to Android 2.3 Gingerbread in a matter of weeks. UK network Three confirmed the news on Twitter, which should bring a smile to the face of Samsung Galaxy S owners who were worried they’d be kept waiting for the latest Google deliciousness.

The news was revealed in Three’s @ThreeUK Twitter feed, telling a fellow tweeter that the update is “expected in the next couple of weeks”. That sounds like it could be rockin’ your S before the end of April, although Three added “but we cannot confirm a date“.

In theory, Android updates should be available to all phones at the same time. But manufacturers and networks love to slap their own software on top of the open-source operating system, which can delay the process of getting updates to owners of individual handsets.
