Dell Getting 10″ Android Tablet (Streak 10 Pro) To China First

It’s a global full of tablets, and we are just residing in it. Dell’s Streak 10 Pro has apparently got lost in the mix; because of so many other Android 3.0 tablets stealing the limelight, it’s becoming an elbowing match to get coverage nowadays.

Right now, Dell’s prepared to introduce their own 10″ Honeycomb tablet, but it will not be coming to America first. Dell has confirmed that they “are indeed working on 10″ tablet products,” with one in particular targeted at “prosumers.” Also they are working on a Windows 7-based tablet for enterprise consumers, which is due out later in the year. Evidently the company seems some pent-up demand for a Win7 tablet, signaled by their intentions to visit forward with this rather than holding out for Windows 8.

The 10″ Android tablet would be the Streak 10 Pro, and strangely, it’ll hit Lenovo’s home turf later in the summertime.

After starting in China, Dell will be “evaluating” launch plans for other regions and locales during the 2nd half of 2011. Dell procedes to answer the question: “Why China?” The answer’s obvious: it’s home to tons of people, and Dell sees tremendous growth opportunities here. The company isn’t revealing additional specifications yet, but hopefully they’ll be revealed soon (and also a cost). The 10″ Honeycomb sector is seriously crowded, but with a reputation like Dell, they’re definitely welcome to the party.

Dell 7-inch prototype tablet imagined, has thumb-friendly QWERTY key-board

Some people are likely awaiting Dell release a a 10-inch tablet, the US business is cooking up new things with a smaller form factor, a device boasting a 7-inch touch screen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard that’s ‘optimized’ for thumb typing.

Dell’s prototype 7-inch tablet also offers rear- and front-facing cameras, and not anything else. At least nothing obvious because there’s not a way to take a look within the device to see what hardware it packages. We’re guesstimating a dual-core cpu, some NAND Flash chips, 512MB/1GB of RAM and a bit of WiFi… you understand, the usual.

Dell’s Streak 10 Pro Android tablet releasing in China this summer

Michael DellThat rumor in regards to a June release for Dell’s first 10-inch Android tablet continues to be not verified but at least now, thanks to John Thode (VP of Mobile Devices at Dell), we all know that the device will be introduced sometime this summer. Do not get excited just yet though because there is a catch. The issue about the launch of the (Android Honeycomb-running) Streak 10 Pro is in regards to market availability, as Dell will quickly first roll out the tablet in China. You’d think that, being a US-based company, Dell would debut its product in the US but that is not happening because apparently an Android tablet can’t be successful enough there, maybe due to the iPad (2). So, it’s settled, China gets the tablet 1st, while the US and probably other markets will need to wait until the coming year. Seen below, the China-bound Streak 10 Pro measures 261 x 176.4x 12.9 mm, and packs a 10-inch (1280 x 800) touchscreen, a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC, 1GB of DDR2 memory, 16/32/64GB of flash storage, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2MP front webcam

Dell Streak 10 Pro tablet with Android 3.1 test brings about the wild?

Dell is anticipated to launch a Ten inch tablet running Android OS this summer, so it’s no surprise that the company is testing early builds of the tablet. But the folks at Streak Smart found evidence suggesting that Dell isn’t just testing the tablet with Android 3.0.1 – the latest version of the Android operating system for tablets. Dell also appears to be testing an unannounced version of Android dubbed Android 3.1.

The evidence comes from the GLBenchmark web page, which records system info and test results for various devices when users run the company’s benchmarking tool.

The tablet seems to be called the Dell Streak 10 Pro. So that as expected it has an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. Aside from the operating system there aren’t any real surprises. GLBenchmark suggests the tablet has a 1280 x 752 pixel display instead of the more standard 1280 x 800 pixel screen -but it’s likely that the discrepancy is due to the status bar at the bottom of the Google Android 3.x Honeycomb user interface.

Dell’s new 10-inch tablet PC is available in the summer of

Michael DellForbes Blog writer Elizabeth Woyke, gave information about Dell’s new tablet PC. Here’s writings; “The summer tablet will run on Google’s Android operating system instead of Microsoft’s Windows software. This 10-inch Android tablet is the one Dell mentioned — and quickly flashed — at its January Consumer Electronics Show (CES) event, where it officially unveiled its 7-inch Android tablet.

At the time, Dell said the 10-inch Android tablet, which was simply a “dummy” prototype at CES, would not hit the market until 2012. My source says the gadget is now set to launch this summer and hinted that the news would come on the early side, in mid-June.

That timing would open up back-to-school sales for the device, which could be significant since the summer tablet – given the choice of Android as the operating system – will likely target younger consumers than the Windows tablet will.

It’s not clear whether the Android tablet will be considered part of Dell’s “Streak” family of Android-based tablets. Dell’s two earlier Streak devices were much smaller (5-inch and 7-inch) and were specifically promoted on TV and in other ads as uber-mobile gadgets. It’s also debatable whether the Streak name holds enough cachet to warrant an addition. I am told that, as of now, Dell’s 10-inch Android tablet is considered “unbranded”.
